Village

Ura is a village known as the sacred hidden valley of Ogyen Guru Rinpoche. It is therefore known as Aur-bey, meaning the sacred hidden valley of Ogyen Guru among the historically aware ones. This was eventually changed to Ura or Aura meaning the hidden valley of Ogyen surrounded by the fence of mountains. The name Ura was coined by some government officials working with land registration and census after finding the valley being majestically surrounded with the fencing of moutain ranges. Households of Ura are divided into four subsections within the village which is known as Dozhi. The Dozhi or subsections are named Tarzhong, Toedpa, Krespa and Charzhungpa.
