The article describes the situation after the Kot and Bhandarkhal massacres, led by Jung Bahadur Rana to strengthen his place in politics and force King Rajendra Bir Bikram Shah to leave Nepal. After living in Kashi for three months, King Rajendra and the queen planned to return to the palace, but it was not possible. Instead, Surendra Bir Bikram Shah was appointed king. The few courtiers who were gathered in Alaou to fight for King Rajendra were massacred there. The article includes 17 abilekhs in appendices. (Rajeev Ranjan Singh 2006-09-27)
