Abstract: (Show)

This article focuses on relations between Tibet and Sikkim during the later half of the 18th century. The second half of the 18th century was a time when Nepal was actively engaged in military efforts to expand into Sikkim and Tibet, including the Nepalese invasion of Sikkim in 1788. The author mainly relies on two land documents that highlight the alliance formed between the powerful Drakkarpa (brag dkar pa) family and the state of Sikkim. (Ben Deitle 2006-02-13)
