The article discusses the tragedy faced by General Bhimsen Thapa after the demise of queen Lalitruparasundari. General Bhimsen Thapa was a powerful and popular personality, and there were many groups jealous of the power exercised by him. The main rival group, or war party, were the Pandeys. The article describes the conspiracy plotted by the Pandey of winning the faith of the eldest queen Samrajyalaxmi over and against Bhimsen Thapa. He was accused of plotting in the assassination of Grivan yuddha and his wife and was imprisoned. Facing the mental torture of prison, Bhimsen Thapa committed suicide.
