Abstract:
(Show)
The article starts by explaining the economic and other ties that Nepal and India share. It also discusses the characteristics of the Nepalese financial environment during the mid-twentieth century. The article examines the exchange rate performance for Nepali currency vis-à-vis Indian currency with special reference to the period of 1956-1960. It includes charts of NC-IC exchange rate movement from 1927-1965. The author's observations show that the NC-IC exchange rates indicate that the objective of attaining stability in the NC-IC exchange rate is moving closer to the goal of a unified currency.
