The article is a holistic study of a central Terai village - Pradipur. Pradipur came under Tribhuwan village development plan in 1954, and a committee of village leaders was made responsible for all development activities until 1961. The article writes the village was split into two groups, the Nepali Congress and Gorkha Parishad, during the general election of 1958. The article discusses the caste and religious groups of the village and family composition. The article also discusses the yield and cost of land. It includes a look at resources like water and the different crops planted in different months. The article draws on case studies and socio-culture studies of the village.
