The article's basic objective is to report on the personality structure of the Gurung, a group traditionally inhabiting the mid-western hill region of Nepal, and to compare the findings with those reported by other investigators in other cultures. 'Modal personality' is a concept developed in the psychological literature on national character and refers to the most frequently occurring and relatively stable personality characteristics and behavioral patterns among the adult members of a specific cultural group. The Rorschach ink blot test, which is widely used in modal personality studies worldwide, was used in the study. The subjects for the study were selected from several groups - Gurung from the western region, the eastern region, and those that have migrated.
