This article is filled with history, stories, and anecdotes about the Dungsam region of Bhutan which comprises the districts of Pemagatshel and Samdrup Jongkhar. The author bases his work mainly on oral sources. The origin of place names are considered as well as the history of several buildings. The article presents stories about the area, including one about a governor called Dungsam Ja Dungpa (19th century), who was killed by a man named Pel Thongley (dpel mthong legs).
