Abstract: (Show)

This article attempts to identify the location of a long-distance trade route between Bhutan and Assam in the nineteenth century based literary sources including British documents. The author defines several critical terms in the study of trade routes before making a detailed examination of an important international trade route between Tashigang, Bhutan and Hajo, Assam which also served as a leg of a Tibet-Assam trade route. The article is supplemented by a table of goods traded and two maps. (Ben Deitle 2006-02-06)
