The article discusses gender and development from the perspective of Nepal's development agenda in the global context. Earlier, women as a category had entered into the UN's agenda. Now, the term gender is used, which provides a holistic approach addressing the issues of women. The different approaches of WID, WAD (which was implemented for welfare and efficiency of women), and now GAD have been developed for promoting the equality, empowerment, and rights of women.
