Abstract: (Show)

The article discusses Maithili consonants. Consonants can be defined in terms of both phonetics and phonology. This article looks into all types of phonologically distinctive consonant sounds in a variety of the 'standard' dialect of Maithili, and puts forward a description, classification, and phonemic analysis of the consonants of this Maithili language. The articulation of chief Maithili consonants is presented in a full page figure. (Rajeev Ranjan Singh 2007-02-21)
