The article explores the causes of the trafficking of women in South Asia. The problem of trafficking has been a pressing issue for the last two decades. The victims of trafficking are mainly girls and women in South Asia, who are trafficked for the trade of prostitution. The author argues that existing patriarchal society has acted as a catalyst to increase this problem. The article includes a diagrammatic illustration of demand and supply factors and their interrelation which has led to boosts in trafficking. (Rajeev Ranjan Singh 2006-10-06)
