Abstract: (Show)

an aspect of the social structure of rural Nepal. It discusses the features of a few gaon panchayat along with a sketch plan of the Makaibari gaon panchayat area. The survey area was inhabited by distinct ethnic groups or caste groups and each with kinship groupings which are statistically presented in a table. The article discusses the different patrilineage structures, especially that of Shrestha khala. The results of this survey on kinship patterns is comparable with most of the rural wards in the midland hill zone in Nepal.
