This article is based on a lecture the author gave at the Buddhist and Pali University of Colombo. The author argues that Buddhism advocates the family's freedom of choice in deciding whether or not to abort a child. The author raises issues related to contraception, the Buddhist view of the fetus, the Buddhist view of sexual abstinence, and family planning. (Zach Rowinski 2004-07-29)
