Dictionnaire Thibétain-Latin-Fançais, par les missionnaires catholiques du Thibet.
A Tibetan-Latin-French dictionary of literary Tibetan. It is also quite a useful source of Eastern Tibetan dialect materials. (Michael Walter and Manfred Taube 2006-05-15, revised by Bill McGrath 2008-01-03)
Begun independently from any other dictioanry in 1852, and over fifty years in preparation, it does incorporate material from de KŐRÖS (Essay towards a Dictionary: Tibetan-English), SCHMIDT, (Tibetisch-deutsches Wörterbuch, nebst deutschem Wortregister), and especially JÄSCHKE (Tibetan English Dictionary). Entries drawing upon JÄSCHKE are marked. Also drew upon an unspecified dozen indigenous dictioanries. Prepared as a Tibetan-Latin dictionary, to which French was added prior to publication. Words are marked as old, recent, or colloquial. It is a dictionary of very high quality that has been underused both in reading, and in the preparation of later dictionaries. Apart from the two dictionaries compiled by the same group GIRAUDEAU (Dictionaire française-tibétain) and GIRAUDEAU (Dictionarium Latino-Thibetanum) only BUCK (Tibetan-English dictionary, with supplement) makes use of it.
