Transitive Verbs
Transitive verbs require an object. In order to avoid the linguistically problematic notion of "subject" in Tibetan, verbs may be deļ¬ned according to their valency, that is, the number of participants they require. Thus transitive verbs can be called "polyvalent verbs," and a distinction may be made between those which require two participants (bivalent verbs) and those which require three (trivalent verbs).
