The article explores the relations between tourists and Sherpas of northern Nepal. It discusses the development of tourism from the Rana regime to the 5th plan. The article tabulates data collected from households in Namche, Kunde, Khumjung, and Phortse. The article concludes that in the short run tourism is enormously popular with the Sherpas of Khumbu.
