Holy Land Narrative

Bhutan has many areas in the country which are said to be blessed and holy lands. Some even consider the entire country as a holy land blessed by figures such as Guru Rinpoche. The holy lands or sites such as Taktshang and Senge Dzong are believed to be power spots for spiritual practice and thus are major destinations for pilgrimage. In addition to their accounts in oral forms, there are also written pilgrimage guidebooks to these holy sites. People often carry a sample of the holy earth from that area as a token of sacred soil.
