The article discusses the importance of the goddess Saraswati in Nepalese society. The worshipping of the goddess Saraswati can be traced even in the period of Licchavi. Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge and wisdom. On the Basanta Panchami the goddess Saraswati is especially worshipped, and on the same day Buddhists celebrate the birthday of Manjushri. The article includes illustrations of sculptures of the goddess Saraswati at different places, such as Lazimpat, and compares the difference in the carved sculptures. It includes 5 leaves of plates.
