The article reports on an investigation into the contexts in which folk knowledge of hygiene and sanitation in Nepal might play some role in the promotion of public health. It particularly focuses on folk knowledge of water related diseases and of water management. The article describes water sources, storage systems, and indigenous method of water treatment.
