Abstract: (Show)

The article discusses a rule in Maithili which is analogous to the raising to subject rule in English. The article consists of three sections. In the first section the author analyzes the raising constructions in Maithili. The author presents arguments in support of the rule of subject-to-subject raising in Maithili in the second section. In the last section the author makes certain theoretical proposals to facilitate the application of the binding principle (A) for the antecedent/NP-trace relation in Maithili.
