StupaIt is one of the most visible monument in the heart of Thimphu city for the visitors. It was built in 1974 dedicated as a memorial to the third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck (1928–72) by his mother late Queen Phuntsho Choden Wangchuck. Architectural and speritual directives and guidance of the construction was over looked by Dungse Thinley Norbu and Drupwang Sonam Zangpo.The ground floor houses the main relics of the stupa, the statues of the Gongdu Phurbi Lhatshog. It has the daily visitors who make circumambulation around the chorten.
