Once a plain ground below a knoll is a place of historical significance. The last internal war popularly known as the battle of Changlingmethang was fought in this area in 1885 that put an end to the internal conflicts seizing power with Gongsar Ugyen Wangchuk who was then the Trongsa Penlop. Today the palce is a national stadium housing the most advanced football ground in the country. It also have a archery range and the office of Bhutan Olympic Committee is also located next to the football ground. Most of the national events in the capital is hosted in Changlinmethang.
