Jampa Lhakhang is one of the earliest temples built in Bhutan in 7th century by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo. It is located few kilometres before reaching the Kurje Lhakhang. The settlement around the temple is also known as Jampa Lhakhang after the temple. Of the many sacred objects in the temple, the most popular is the statue of future Buddha Maitreya and the three stone steps in front of the statue.
