Parafascicular nucleus

The parafascicular nucleus is part of the intralaminar nucleus of the thalamus that’s important for basal ganglia-thalamo-cortical circuits involved in cognitive processing and regulating the flexibility of instrumental behaviors. Specifically, it sends excitatory input to the basal ganglia.
