Leather bellows
Khölmo is a device that is commonly seen in nomadic areas. According to Mönlam Tsikdzö Chenmo, it is a bellows is made of goat or sheep skin which is for producing a strong current of air used to stoke a fire. There is a saying: "for a new fire one should not use a bellows." To make a bellows, the animal skin is flayed and treated, and a short steel pipe is placed in the middle before the edges of the skin are sewn together. It is a device easily made and wildly used, but it is hard to use if one does not have the knowhow or experience: the pipe side should be placed near the fire and both hands should hold the other end and pump their hands up and down in order to start the air flow.
