Men’s Winter Robe
Lokpa are robes that are widely worn both in agricultural and nomadic areas across Tibet. The material is yak or sheep skin, and the robe is crafted without scraping the hair or fleece off of the skin. The difference between lokpa and other skin robes is that lokpa do not require additional material to make. Though the robe keeps one warm in winter, it is also worn in other seasons. The robe shown here is the typical robe worn by nomadic males. Generally, a male’s robe is shorter and looser than females, which is more comfortable for riding or working. In the local dialect these are called tsakpa.
