Branch Monasteries

The term "branch monastery" apparently means not that the monastery necessarily is owned by the "mother" monastery, but rather that the mother monastery is responsible for the branch monastery in terms of providing some aspect of its administration, such as the abbot. The relationship does not necessarily entail the collection of money or the dictation of policy.
