Adjectival Suffixes

Generally speaking, adjectives strongly resemble verbs and may even be “conjugated” with certain auxiliary verbs. Adjectives usually consist of a radical and a suffix, or else a doubled radical.

There are a number of suffixes that specify the degree of the adjective. These include:

  • པོ་ Positive
  • པ་ Comparative
  • ཤོས་ Superlative and intensive
  • པ་ལ་ Admirative
  • དྲགས་ Excessive
  • ཙམ་ Attenuative
  • ཐག་ཆོད་ or སའི་ Intensives
