Joke

The Bhutanese have a robush sense of humour although their sense of humour differs from non-Bhutanese ones. With little hang-ups and sexual taboos, dirty jokes and sexual pranks are common features of Bhutanese public gatherings as indicated by the ubiquitous presence of a clown holding a phallus. The Bhutanese also have many jokes at the expense of neighbouring valleys and close friends. Humourous satire and insinuations form a common part of the speech culture in rural villages. However, these speech features are in decline as a new modern sense of propriety and privacy spreads among the youth of Bhutan.
