Poetry

Beside folk poetic compositions such as lozey, tsangmo and songs, Bhutan also has vigorous culture of poetry writing, particularly among its literati. The poetry tradition among the educated Bhutanese is influenced by Indian classical poetics and classical Tibetan poetic traditions. Poems, mostly written in Classical Tibetan and Dzongkha, dwell on a range of subjects including history, nature, divinities, landscape, spirituality, and personal experience. A common style of poetry is the alphabetical composition, in which lines start with the alphabetics in sequence.
