Ecological Knowledge
Most Bhutanese live very close to nature and have an intimate understanding of their natural surroundings. Their knowledge of nature and their ability to read animal and bird behaviours, meteorological and astrological signs, climatic fluctuations and vegetational changes, which are based on lived experiences rather than experiments, help them guide their life in general and agricultural work and cultural events in particular. Their knowledge of wild habitat also provides them with many uncultivated forest products such as mushrooms, berries, fruits and vegetables and keep them away from harm by wild animals.
