Hunting and Fishing

In some very remote communities, men practised hunting, fishing and honey collection to supplement the food they got from their farms. They used basic homemade tools and weapons to carry out these activities. In many cases, people hunted to get materials of medicinal values such as bear bile, musk and a certain kind of wasp. Although hunting is practised more openly in non-Buddhist communities in southern Bhutan and also by some people in remote corners, the mainstream Bhutanese population who are Buddhist generally look down on these practices.
