Sharchopikha

Spoken by a large number of people in Mongar, Tashigang, Tashi Yangtse, Samdrupjongkhar and Pema Gatshel as a native tongue, and by many others as a second language, Tshangla or Sharchopikha is one of the widely spoken languages of Bhutan. However, linguists are yet to classify this ancient language in any of the known groups. It is language which is relatively easy to pick up and has thus gained currency even in many parts of Bhutan. It is also spoken in some places outside Bhutan and there is a basic lexicon and grammar now although it remains largely an oral vernacular.
