Spiritual/religious Story

Buddhism penetrates deep into the Bhutanese life and culture. Many of Bhutan's folk stories told around the hearth by parents and elders to the children are about religious figures. The characters are either fictional or historical. There are many standard religious stories of pious characters which are found across the Himalayas and also popular in Bhutan. In addition, true religious biographies are also narrated as stories in the evening. The religious stories normally contain messages such as acts of devotion, renunciation, love and compassion and miraculous achievements.
