Congratulatory Recitation

Bhutanese people celebrate many positive events in life including birth, marriage, getting a job promotion, winning in a competition, house consecration, etc. During these ceremonies, orators or village elders give a speech or recitation in order to congratulate, praise or convey good wishes. The recitation are sometimes accompanied by a gift. Some recitations have a set formula or text while others are composed according to the context and situation.
