Cymbal

The cymbals are musical instruments used by the precentor who leads the rituals and chanting. They are circular, flat but thick plates which curves inward to create hollow space towards the centre. There are two main types of cymbals: Boerol which was perhaps adopted from Tibetan model and Pozang. There are also two main schools in its use: those following the Tibetan tradition both move the upper and lower cymbals while the tradition following the State Monk Body holds the lower one firm and weilds the upper one.
