Pottery

The art of making pottery was practised in many communities in the past but it is now extant only in a couple places in eastern and western Bhutan. These communities sold their pots to other communities across Bhutan as earthen pots were commonly used in traditional Bhutan as cooking utensils. The potters used a special clay to make the mud. After designing the pots with malleable clay, it is fired to make the pots strong. Wax is applied to the pots before use.
