Kitchen Utensil Carpentry

Bhutanese kitchens make use of many wooden utensils including wooden ladle, batters, pestles, spoons, cups, buckets, bowls and boxes. Bhutanese traditionally also ate from wooden bowls called dapas and wooden cups. Some of the cups and bowls made from burl are considered very rare and special. These cups are very expensive and often passed down as hierloom in a family. Today, wooden cups are replaced by china, melamine or glass cups and mugs and wooden cups are commonly used only in ceremonies.
