Weaving
Bhutan has a rich textile tradition and women in many parts of Bhutan are very skilled weavers. Weaving is often learnt as a skill by young girls from older women and has been the profession of many working women. The weaving tradition in Bhutan is diverse differing from region to region and includes textiles woven from yak hair, sheep wool, hemp and nettle, cotton and silk. It is a tradition which is rich and concentrated in the eastern and central parts of Bhutan although today many great weavers live and work in Thimphu. There are a few men who also weave.
