In-home Work

Bhutanese domestic architecture reflect the notion of space and values of certain objects and activities people profess. Traditionally, the houses are often three storied, with the ground floor for animals, middle floor for granary and storage and top floor for human habitation. If the house is two storied, the attic is used for storage and people live on the first floor. The best room is often reserved for the shrine room which also serves as bedroom for important guests. However, the kitchen and living room is the most vibrant of the space with the family sleeping, eating, entertaining guests and having meetings beside other domestic and social activities in this space.
