Humourous Story

Bhutanese have a very light and robust sense of homour. They tell jokes and humourous stories to enliven a conversation and also to convery some specific message. These humourous stories can be generally of two types: stories with jokes and humour which are appropriate to be shared in a family context and stories containing dirty and sexually explicit jokes which cannot be told to a family audience. One can also find humourous stories about both religious figures such as the divine madman Drukpa Kunley and worldly characters such as Ap Wang Drugay. Both of these, like many others, are said to have been based on real lives.
