Story of Intelligence
A large percentage of Bhutanese folk stories deal with intelligence, wit and wisdom. Such stories are often told to demonstrate how wit and intelligence surpass material or physical power. The protagonists of the stories of intelligence and wit can be a human being or an animals. Sometimes, the protagonist is a powerful person like the king, other times, a lowly single mother or slave boy. In the case of animals, the protagonist with wit may be a lion, the king of the jungle, or a sharp rabbit. Some of the stories can be traced to the folklore from other cultures, particularly from India and Tibet, while others may have a local origin.
