Valley Narratives

Most Bhutanese people live in the valleys and they have stories and accounts of the valleys. For example, some valleys are considered hidden lands which are not only geographically isolated and thus hidden, but also spiritually blessed with many hidden treasures. They are associated with great masters, who have recognized them as powerful places. Some valleys have shapes which are said to be special and auspicious while others are praised for their agricultural fertility and ecological wealth. The valleys, their landscape, flora and fauna are also described in local songs, recitations and the liturgies for the worship of the local deity.
