Holy Cave Narrative
There are many caves in the Bhutanese mountains, which are used by people for habitation. Some caves are located on the trade routes where travellers spent their nights. However, the sacred caves are often in far flung mountains or in middle of cliffs. They are used by the hermits and meditators are centres for their meditation. Many of these sacred caves came to be enclosed in built structures such as meditation cottage or a temple through the centuries. The meditators live in the enclosure of the cave in order to avoid the hassle of building a residential structure. The hermits also move from cave to cave depending on the season and their experience of practice.
