Empowerment

Empowerment is a very important and popular tantric Buddhist ritual which works as rite of passage. The recipient is empowered to chant mantras, visualize maṇḍalas and deities and carry tantric ritual after receiving the empowerment. The practice is very popular in Bhutan but few people understand the tradition adequately and practise it effectively. There are two kinds of empowerment rituals: wang and jenang. For wang, there are generally four parts of vase, secret, wisdom and word empowerments.
