Eulogy

Traditional Bhutanese say a lot of prayers for their psychological wellbeing and to reach enlightenment in the future. Most people would use a book called thun pe, similar to the Christian Book of Hours, which contains the common prayers. Most of the prayers in such a book are praises and eulogies to the Buddhas, the deities and Buddhist masters. It is by rejoicing in the good qualities of the enlightened beings and by praising them that the ordinary Buddhist aims to emulate the great beings and reach the same spiritual state as they are in. A great number of Bhutanese Buddhist prayers are verses of praises and exultation which have originated in India or Tibet.
