Kadam

The Kadam (bka' gdams) tradition originates with the1057 founding of Radreng Monastery (rwa sgreng) by Atiśa's most prominent disciple, Dromtön ('brom ston). Gampopa (sgam po pa), the source of the main Kagyü lineages, was originally a Kadam monk before he received esoteric precepts from Milarepa (mi la ras pa).
