One of the two main contemplative systems in the Seminal Heart (snying thig) tradition of the Great Perfection (rdzogs chen), the other being “direct transcendence” (thod rgal). It is essentially a form of calming or emptiness meditation that cultivates a free-flowing form of awareness without any contrived visualizations, postures, or other formal features.
