Leather Product
Hides from cows, yaks and sheep were used traditionally in high altitudes as jackets, mats and cushions without removing the hair. Tiget and leopard skins are also used as seat and throne covers. Animal hides, after removing hair and tanning, are often used for making shoe soles, ropes, leather bags, pouches, saddle trappings and whips. Calf skin is often used after tanning for making drums used in religious rituals and snake skin is also used for handheld drums. There were wide range of products made from leather in Bhutan but today most of the leather goods are imported from abroad.
